Napoleon Dynamite is a 2004 independent film co-written and directed by Jared Hess and Jerusha Hess that stars Jon Heder as the titular character. The movie was Jared Hess's first full-length feature and is partially adapted from his earlier short film, Peluca. Napoleon, the film's protagonist, is a clumsy teenager who enjoys mundane diversions such as drawing, drinking milk, eating Tater Tots, and playing tetherball. He’s an underachiever in school who prefers doodling fantastical creatures to paying attention in class. The film revolves around Napoleon, his 32-year-old brother Kip, his Uncle Rico, and his friends Deb and Pedro.
